> "Whoa, whoa... Easy there, girl," she says taking Christine around
> the shoulders. "Why don't you just sit down for moment. You're
> looking about 10 shades the other side of pale."
>
> Guiding Christine around to the front of the chair, she helps her
> sit down. "Here. Just sit down for a minute. Let me get you a glass
> of water. You look like you could use something other than alcohol
> right now. I'll be right back. Promise."
>
> Sandra quickly grabs one of the complimentary paper cups from the
> ladies room and fills it with cold water. Returning to the
> cloakroom, she sees the woman sitting there with her head in her
> hands, evidently trying to keep the room from spinning.
>
> "Here. Drink this," she says handing the cup to Christine.

[Christine]
Christine lifts her head from her hands and accepts the water with a
shaky word of thanks.

[Christine]
Christine focuses blearily on the woman in front of her. It isn't
helpful that her rescuer is poised and exotically gorgeous, given the
state she's in, but Christine still manages to be grateful. She
smiles wanly.

"Not great," she says. "Life is too weird . . . " She breaks off,
stricken. How impossible it is to explain. It's all so crazy - the
Sight, the Handmaid of Fate thing. Christine barely understands it
herself. Mostly, she just wants to make it all stop but there no way
she can tell that to this lovely, together woman, looking at
Christine, her face radiating kindly concern. Christine smiles
again, trying to make it more convincing, striving to inject a little
normality into her life.

"Christine," says Christine but this time, she doesn't offer a
beautiful stranger her hand to shake, "and thankyou for interrupting
an . . . an awkward conversation back then." Christine breaks off,
her gaze searching the other woman's with sudden, sharp anxiety.
"There was another woman in here with me - wasn't there?"

Tag Sandra, possibly also Jack? :-)
