Practical applications? Ah-huhmmm. Much to Stephen's dismay, the
current setting makes any truly open exchange all but impossible. On
the other hand, John's been dropping more than his fair share of
hints. Stephen's dying to look him in the eye and plainly ask 'So
what *are* you?'

"I bet you've got all sorts of ridiculous stories," Stephen grins
instead, saving the potentially dangerous question for another time.

"I'd love to come sit in! I don't know anything of the subject
myself, but it would especially interesting to meet some of these
'serious practitioners.'" Stephen wonders if any of Gotham's
Euthanatoi are planning to attend... or another Awakened soul at the
very least.

The Mathematician has taken a bit of a gamble with respect to the
attention (or lack thereof) that he pays to Abby. As a result of her
quiet, though affectionate demeanor, it would seem that he has
discounted her as little more than a very attractive arm-piece. She
plays that role remarkably well, and, perhaps intentionally, she has
given Stephen very little reason to suspect anything else of her.
