After swallowing a half-mouthful of the chilled vodka, Stephen makes
a barely audible, though distinctly appreciative "ahh" sound.
Happiness is without a doubt the most appealing of the three, but
John had carefully evaded his own question while Kurt, perhaps
unwittingly, provided him with a convenient out.
"It would seem that happiness is a rare commodity these days,"
Stephen laments. "It really is most unfortunate." He lets the
statement hang and amidst the brief but contemplative silence he
finds cause to change the subject.
"I am curious though, Mr. Black. Why an occult bookstore? Interest?
True passion for the subject matter, perhaps? Or did you inherit the
store, as so frequently happens with that sort of business?"
A backstory tag! :)
