John gives no indication that he suspects that
Stephen's response is anything but the full truth.
But he does pause to take a drink and consider the
problem before him. Whatever he was, the doctor was
different, a spell caster of some sort, deals with the
forces of death, though not a necromancer. He
obviously wasn't one of the "bad guys." It was enough
information to recognize he knew nothing about the
man.

He wanted to share this with Abby, or at least give
her a heads up as to the man's nature, but didn't know
how without giving away her nature, something he
doubted she'd appreciate.

"Fate and fortune, two words that can be used to
describe interesting and dangerous times." He looks
at everyone as he asks his next question. "Fate or
fortune? The two are often at odds, so which would
you prefer?"

His face became a little more serious as he asked.

OOC: No worries. Since school started up again I've
been trying to get back into the groove myself.
Fortunately I've been blessed with good kids this year
who've been no trouble.
