John Black, Abby, Kurt Morgan, Dr. Nekos
Very Old Man, Bastet, Sidhe, Mage
Lady Sinclair's

>>> "He's a very eloquent Mastiff though, says volumes with those
>>> eyes and sighs." Abby recalls the look Mike had given her and her
>>> girlfriends as he took over the couch.

Stephen sips his martini as he listens on and feels his telepathic
effect fade. The probe wasn't quite as informative as he had hoped,
but at least he's sure now that John knows that *something* is up. Of
course this raises additional questions: is Mr. Black Awakened?
Certainly the bookstore owner is no Technocrat, nor does he seem
Nephandic. Stephen's exposure to "other" supernatural beings is,
unfortunately for him, limited enough to prohibit his rational mind
from making other guesses about John's nature... but now he's
curious. It occurs to Stephen that the party is the wrong setting to
ask directly, so he'll have to wait. He hates waiting.

>> "But I think he liked you a lot. He wouldn't have even stayed in
>> the room otherwise. He's sometimes like a child who likes someone
>> and shows it by teasing. An excellent judge of character,
>> though." He raised his glass in salute to Abby and looked back at
>> Stephen.
>
> "He’s not the only Excellent Character I’ve met tonight, John
> Black." She smiles, Pale Green eyes sparkling, as she raises her
> glass to him.
>
>> "I wouldn't think a mathematician would be interested in an occult
>> shop." It was obviously a baited question.

Taking another sip of the excellent, perfectly dry martini, Nekos
grins at John. "That's a tad presumptuous of you, isn't it? A man can
have hobbies, after all. But I suppose that doesn't answer your
question--I have something of a recreational interest in the older
perspectives on, and tools of, fate and fortune. Unfortunately, good
texts on the subject are hard to find."

Stephen's words are a half-truth, but he's an excellent liar (Manip 4
"Believable", Subterfuge 4). It is true that the old ways are of
value to him, but that's hardly his interest in Mike's Place.

[OOC-Please forgive the lag on my end! Classes started this week, and
I'm stuck trying to adjust to the new schedule. ;)]
