Korben was shaken out of his own musings by the dawning Awareness that
Nez was looking at him. Meeting her eyes, he realized that she was
making eye contact... and he could see the Wolf in her eyes. Here he
was, standing there in Crinos, and she was practically calling him out.

It was almost enough to waken his Rage... but underneath Korben's Rage
was always the bitterness... the memories that couldn't let go and allow
him to rush into harm's way with the cocky self-assurance of the
new-turned Garou. His eyes show his fire, but also his awareness that
that fire isn't always enough.

It's a knowledge that makes him at once less dominant and more
dangerous. Here is a Garou that just won't make a lot of rookie
mistakes. Here is a Garou who has enough experience to follow a good
leader, without the need to be the leader himself.

Just then, he speaks. "If you're looking for the job, I suggest you
Change. You won't take me down in that form." But listening carefully
as she is - watching him, as she is - Nez will see, and hear, the
underlying plea. Take the job. The challenge is for form's sake; the
eyes have already settled the reality.

[if I ever get outta here, I'm goin' to tag-mandu]
