Deep behind the John Black persona, Carthephius became
concerned. He had heard stories of people without
souls, lifeless husks, but this was something entirely
different, something that might be good to
investigate.

"Miss Begierde, how I wish we could have met earlier
in the evening. We could have shown you a wondrous
time, but as it is, it's getting late and there is
much more I want to show the lovely lady." He
squeezed Abby a little closer.
   
  Abby leans into his grasp.
