Mara nods politely in answer to his question.  That much was very true.  Seattle, Gotham, all over the world, Melcom had their hands in a lot of pies.  "Then they are courteous here."  Mara replies, switching again to Spanish.  "LSS suffered a few retaliatory evictions before the city was kind enough to sell us a building."  More to the point, they were kind enough to overcharge them for the run down structure.  "Nor was I the only one."  During Melcom's 'Revitalization' plan for part of the Seattle, more than a few vampires lost havens due to eminent domain condemnations.  The City took property from the land owners, paying only a pittance in return, and then turned around and practically gifted it to Melcom.  She'd helped fight the battle, but the court just wasn't on their side.  Small wonder there were now plans to try to get a measure restricting such land grabs on the ballot for the 2008 election.        

"Interesting!" the Prince rubbed his chin in a rather more human gesture than was his usual manner. "Such different modes of behaviour. I wonder what makes Gotham different? I wonder indeed!"

he turns to Mara.

"I should certainly make an effort to get someone inside their walls so we can discover more of thier plans. It wouldn't do to be caught with our pants down if they do have some of desire for my city!"
