The instrumental section began and Booker played with gusto. Raindog and
Mordraine
> remained silent as they listened, but Arine could feel their eyes on her.

She let the music play as long as she could occasionally punctuating it with
a little bit of scat here and there before singing out the last lines,

"I could say bella bella, even sir-ir wunderbar
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are
I've tried to explain, Bei Mir Bist Du Schon
So kiss me and say that you will understand..."

As the music filled the room again Ariñe waited for the transition then
started to bring in "Fascinating Rhythm." There was some small but sweet justice in
making that guy wait a little longer and she was going to take advantage of
it. Those that knew her well would know that she was more than aware of what
she was doing even if most of the world would never realize.

"Got a little rhythm, a rhythm, a rhythm"

she sang the first line coyly with that certain bedroom vibrato to contrast.

"Got a little rhythm,
Got a little rhythm,
Got a little
rhythm, rhythm,"

Again they played on creepying up and up.

"I got a little rhythm
That pit-a-pats through my brain;
So darn persistent,
The day isn't distant
When it'll drive me insane."

She puts her hands into her hair and pulls slightly. By now she was into the
song and had almost forgotten the unwanted eyes fixed on her.

"Comes in the morning
Without any warning,
And hangs around me all day.
I'll have to sneak up to it
Someday, and speak up to it.
I hope it listens when I say:"

A shorter musical break then before.

"Fascinating Rhythm,
You've got me on the go!
Fascinating Rhythm,
I'm all a-quiver.

When a mess you're making!
The neighbours want to know
Why I'm always shaking
Just like a flivver."

By now the tempo has built up and the room is swinging right along.

"Each morning I get up with the sun -
Start a-hopping,
Never stopping -
To find at night no work has been done."

"I know that
Once it didn't matter -
But now you're doing wrong;
When you start to patter
I'm so unhappy."

"Won't you take a day off?
Decide to run along
Somewhere far away off -
And make it snappy!"

Booker brilliantly slaps out the rhythm and the melody follows right along.

"Oh, how I long to be the woman I used to be!
Fascinating rhythm,
Oh, won't you stop
Oh, won't you stop
Stop
Stop picking on me?"

She paused, perhaps too long. In her hast she hadn't thought ahead to the
next song so if Booker didn't have one she'd have to talk to what's-his-name. She
stood smilling at the audience. Truth be told she could use a minute or two.
She had put so much into her performance tonight she needed a brief pause but
given the opportunity to she would keep going.
