His waist was expansive, held barely in check with a cummerbund and he suspected a girdle too. Podgy fingers gripped a tumbler with golden liquid in it and still gleaming ice cubes. Though he tried to maintain a calm demeanour as he retreated, dragging an over manicured and powdered woman with him, he glanced over his shoulder several times. 
   
  Abby catches his eye from the corner of hers and smiles slowy.
