As they approach the fat man, John begins to speak. 
"So is this the man you spoke of my dear?"  He glances
at Abby once, and then continues.  "Dear sir, it is a
pleasure to meet you."  John takes the mans hand in a
firm, though not painful, grip.  "I've heard so much
about you."

He glances at the woman with him.  "And is this your
wife?  She's even lovlier than I imagined."
