>"That's why we'd never shoot at MacFluffy's my man," the
>talkative creep replied with a grin "don't want to kill the
>people what serve the Fluff-pounder deluxe!! But the folk's at
>O'Tolly's? Best they can do is catch a few bullets if you ask
>me. Hate them Fries!"

Jaleel nodded. "A friend once told me dat his friend's aunt found a damn
snail in one of dems fucking O'Tolly Onion Ringies. Even still had a
damn shell around it. Was completely fried, of course. But still. She
got a million dollars out of O'Tolly's for dis shit and went down to
live like a queen in Florida, the friend told him. Fuckers." He leaned
on the van's side and crossed his arms before his chest.

>The Strangely dressed trio led the Children into the Pumping

>huge pit by way of a suspended walkway. Deep below, where

>Gogglies bent down on the lip of the pit and slapped the once
>elaborately decorated sides. Flakes of the black and gold

>"That's right my lil darlin's" he called down. "Pappy got some
>din din's, yes he has!" The mans baby talk brought a look of
>undisguised mirth to Onitt's face. He'd really seen it all now.

Din din's? Antoine thought. This got fucking weirder every time he got
here. Next time this creep would probably coo and throw kisses down
there. He had the image of Gogglies putting a blanket over... Whatever
these things down there might be, and tucking it neatly into a cradle
for sleep. Sheesh, he really need sleep badly.

>
>The other two were busy attaching the wheelie bin to a harness
>and then began to tug on the chains that hoisted it into the
>air and over the pit. As Antione peered over the edge he was
>sure he saw small points of light, white discs that might be
>eyes, but with no pupils or colours.

Whatever it was, it somehow looked as if these monsters down there were
blind. But then, what do you need eyes for if you live at the bottom of
a well and wait for your fodder to come down to you.

>
>Gogglies raised a hand and the two men at the chains began
>pulling at a different mechanism and the bin up-ended and
>deposited its gruesome cargo intot he inky blackness.
>
>Whatever the eyes belonged to fell upon the feast with a
>gluttonous frenzy.
>
>"Never hurts to keep them hungry" Gogglies said by way of
>explanation. "Sharpens the appetite!"

Onitt stood there, a broad grin on his face. It looked only slightly
forced. Dédé looked down the well, fascinated. The noises echoing up the
well didn't seem to bother him at all. He looked up at Old Gogglies and
then down again.
Antoine stepped back from the well. He took the money from his purse and
held the bundle of notes out to Old Gogglies. "Yeah, would dampen the
performance a little bit, if you throw the bodies down and instead of
frenzied feeding all you hear is blissfull full-bellied snoring. Takes
out the drama."

Dédé suddenly looked up again and asked: "What are these beasts down
there, anyway?" Antoine knew it had been a mistake bringing Dédé along.
Not that he was fearing Old Gogglies *not* to answer, but he could very
well do without it, thank you.
