OOC: I'm not sure how the timeline works out, but I
figure I can fudge things a little to coincide with
John's return from Tokyo.

When Dr. Hiram entered the exhibit he saw two men, a
tall dark skinned gentleman walking with a shorter
black man. The taller one was carrying a backpack and
was dressed in jeans, an old army shirt, and gym
shoes. The short black man had on an expensive armani
suit.

The two stopped, and seemed to be arguing. The black
man became angry and his companion responded by
mimicking a duck quacking with his hand. He turned to
walk away.

He'd only taken two steps when the African lept forth
with speed no human should be capable of and grabbed
the gentleman's arm. A few more words were exchanged,
a nod, and a handshake.

The tall man handed over the bag, the black man a
small envelope, which was openned, inspected, and
placed in a pocket.

The two parted ways, the short man leaving while the
tall one walked around the exhibit.

**************************
John was calm as he inspected the exhibit. It had
always been entertaining to listen to the Shemsu-Heru
drone on about the superiority of Egyptian culture to
all others. So insecure about their past that they
had felt the need to remind their Hound of what poor
stock he came from.

Once it had bothered him, but it was amazing much time
had proven them wrong. Could anyone argue that Egypt
had given more to the world than Rome? Of course not.
Rome had conquored the world, bringing roads and
civilization to wherever she went. She had taken the
best that others had offered, made it her own, and
then spread it across the world.

And like all great empires, when she stopped sharing
her bounty, and only took what she wanted, then she
died. It was the way it should be.

Looking at the trinkets in the display case, he found
himself nostalgic. He remembered when his loyalties
had been so simple and naive, and all was done for the
glory of Rome.

It had taken 20 years to earn his diploma. He had
wanted that citizenship, and refused to join the
Shemsu-Heru until he received it. The bronze plate
was his most prized possession.

His thoughts were interupted by a man in a wheelchair
. . .
