[Sodium_noir] Help your local neighbourhood Spikey

My only thought that hasn't been aded is if you do have to reformat
(though trying a bootable CD first and running your checking software
*is* the best idea) be sure when you restart you partition your hard
drive in at least two sections and create a second user.

Hell, create a second user as it is, make sure it doesn't have
anything in the startup items (and likewise make sure there aren't any
all user ones) and give it a shot from there. Something I've had
recommended to me (and still haven't listened because sometimes it
makes things damn inconvenient) is for that secondary user (which
actually becomes your primary) to not have administrative access.

Of course, all these suggestions are coming from an iMac user (and
part-time IT guy) who touches his Windows partition as little as
possible, but the two platforms are more similar than the fanatic
users like to admit.

Damn Uni (I'm off on the summers) is even e-mailing me with bloody
questions! *sighs*

Good luck Spikey, and get a second hard drive if possible and RAID. A
DVD burner wouldn't hurt either for backups...
