John smiled and escorted her to a bar, where he asked
for a glass of wine and got Abby whatever she wanted,
slipping the bartender a tip.  He took a sip of wine
and looked around the party.

As he scanned the party, he leaned in close to speak,
as much to enjoy the proximity as it was for privacy. 
"I know one in the city, the new Kahn of Chinatown. 
His name is Titus Bane.  I suspect there will be
others here.  I'm not sure how close we want to get to
them.  I would hate to bring down trouble not only on
yourself, but any of your kinsmen as well."
