Jack, Aurora, Christine, Mara, Mitsuko

Christine has a glimmer of understanding of what Aurora is offering
Jack, Something shining and insubstantial, something precious . . .
but in this case quite useless.

I'm sorry, thinks Christine, in despair. I don't know how to help.
And it seems that neither does Aurora despite her valiant efforts.
Christine feels a point of pain begin behind her eyes, the start of a
major headache. Her thoughts and her will are beginning to unravel.
> "He's called Jack ... and we found him outside .. and he's all cut

Christine becomes peripherally aware of the newcomer talking to
Mitsuko and this is enough to break up her already foundering
concentration. She's still holding both Aurora and Jack's hands but
the mental link terminates abruptly.
"Sorry," she mutters again. She turns her head a little stiffly to
the new Monk who has arrived on the scene. An elder by the looks of
it and from the way Mitsuko speaks to him. What the hell is he just
standing there watching for?
"Are you a doctor?" demands Christine. "'cos I'm not and neither is
my friend, here. This man is going to die without medical attention.
Is there anything *you* can do?"
