Furthermore, the real game was played inside, not out, and having a ride back from the party was a tactical advantage she preferred.  Besides, she couldn't exactly discuss much in the presence of these mortals anyway.

"And then we'll walk in together and pay our respects to the gracious hostess and Montoya, not necessarily in that order."  They were approaching the status of fashionably late, and the hostess was no longer required to maintain a vigil near the door to greet her arriving guests. Montoya would probably be easier to find.

> With that, Mara gets back into her car and follows Crosby's car closely, leaving less than a car length between them.  No car was going to get in front of her, and the short distance should allow her to make the same traffic lights Crosby did.
> "And we're off."  Mara tells the ladies.  "Good time to make those last minute adjustments before we get there."

Aurora nods, her eyes shifting from green to amber as she purposefully
adjusts her bracelets, feels her belt, and checks her purse one last
time as they drive along.
