Taking Abby's offered hand, Stephen dips his head in something of a  
half-bow. Her words procure from him an honest smile, which lingers  
as he replies. "Well you hardly seem a waif; I'd say you belong here  
on merit of beauty and graces alone."

He pauses and looks about the room briefly, then addresses the entire  
trio. "This is quite an affair Lady Sinclair's put together, hm? Any  
idea if there's a particular occasion? It wasn't mentioned on my  
invitation."
