"Maria," Prince Antonia replied in English, "it is
quite rude to speak a language that only about half of
the people here understand," she chided. "Do I
understand that this d-Childe is yours?" she stopped
herself from saying 'dog,' it was a sign of her
surprise that she almost said it.

Carefully turning his head, Cash looked to see the
woman behind him, one glance confirmed it was his Sire
Maria, from the boots and tight fitting jeans to the
loose blouse and long jet-black hair she was exactly
the way he remembered her.

"Yes, he is mine," Maria answered in slightly accented
English, "I Sired him almost a year ago, in Guatemala
City." A gasp was heard from the audience, most of
Central America was controlled by the Sabbat. Maria
ignored the sound and continued, "According to our
custom, he was left on his own for a year to learn or
die." The tone of her voice seemed not to care which,
but Cash had heard from other Gangrel that most Sires
wanted their Childer to survive and prove the good
instincts of the Sire for choosing the Childe.

"You taught him nothing about our laws,
traditions...anything," Antonia fired back, hoping for
an excuse to punish Cash. "No," that was all Maria
said. With a disgusted look on her face Antonia, with
a flip of her hand, said "Take him, and teach him what
he needs, I hold the Childe blameless for his
ignorance." Clearly the same didn't hold for the
Sire.
