Nearing the Party
> "Little lambs lost are they?" Crosby asked with his usual aplomb. "It would
> be an honour to escort all of you to such an event. After all, a man such as
> myself can only benefit from such company." he bows politely to Auroara and
> Mitsuko as they alight from the car.
Mara smiles at Crosby's remark. Mitsuko and Aurora were the lambs, while she and Crosby were the lions, predators at the very pinnacle of the food chain.
>Aurora curtsies gracefully. One set of foster parents had been rather
>insistent on that point, she finaly mentally thanked them.
Mara watches Aurora's curtesy, and is visibly pleased. The girl did have a semblance of manners. Perhaps she wouldn't have to watch them like hawks. Good, she had quite a bit she wanted to accomplish tonight.
> Once the party goers are ready, he leads them towards the house itself.
> Grand stone stairs in a half circle sprawl away from the large open doors,
> complete with faux medival hinges and bell. The sounds from within are
> clearly live, a string quartet is playing somewhere, just slightly louder
> than the conversations between them and the musicians.
Mara slips her hand into Crosby's arm, and the two of them lead the way into the house. The house was lovely, actually, and the string quartet was doing a very good job. Had she hired them from the local symphony? She wonders.
> Beyond the doors the hallway is busy with guests and staff. Waiters and
> caterers carry trays of drinks and finger food, groups of powerful people
> chat and pose.
As they approach the hallway, Mara turns to the pair. "Be sure to grab a drink as soon as you can. If a tray is offered to you, take only one or two items from it, and be sure to eat, because it's bad form to be visibly drunk at a party like this. Once we enter the party, you can either follow us, or wander around as you wish. You might enjoy wandering around for a while." Mara doesn't want to tell them to get lost, but some things were better done without innocent bystanders.
> Directly in front of themn is a trio, two men and a girl. A study in
> contrast, one man is millitary in demeanour yet seemingly at home in the
> company. The other is well manacured, handsome and gragarious. The girl
> seems to be somewhat enjoying their company.
Mara takes note of the guests, but merely nods to them, not speaking unless they do so first. It was considered both polite and wise to greet the party's host first, and wiser still to greet the Prince if he were in attendance.
> On the stairs stands the Malkavian Primogen Christophe Bennet, whom Mara met
> before. Dressed in a tuxedo and quite a lot of gold, the man's hawk like
> gaze washed over them. On his arm is a rather scantily glad girl nearly
> dressed in a sequined number.
> Further up the stairs on the broad landing is Prince Montoya and Devlin,
> with a dark haired woman Mara had not seen before. The Prince was ramrod
> tall and perfectly attired in armani, as was his prim date. The Beuaty who
> stood beside them carried herself with an old world elegance, her looks
> echoed the European styles.
As they reach Bennet, Mara smiles at him politely. "Good evening, Mr. Bennet." She will not press further unless the Malkavian does. He did still outrank her.
After getting a response from Bennet, Mara catches a glimpse of the Prince, and tells Crosby that they should go say hello to the Prince. It would make a good impression, she hoped, a Brujah in the company of a Ventrue.
For the moment, Mara tries to catch the Prince's eye, but she does wonder about who the dark-haired woman might be.
