> Mara arches a brow. "China Town? Dangerous territory for one of
> my sort. All of Downtown is, actually." Even so, she picks her
> evening bag up off the desk and takes her keys from it. "Shall we
> go?"

Christine smiles more genuinely at this. Always has admired Mara's
courage.

"The Temple of the Five Dragons? It's where I'm staying at the
moment," Christine volunteers. "Until I work out what's going on with
me and all. I think it's friendly and reasonably safe. For the moment."

Christine acquiesces easily enough to Mara's determination to drive
and for once is grateful that Mara doesn't really do small talk.
Christine watches the neon-lit streets blur into the drab and shadowy
alleyways of Lowrentsville, skimming the wasted edge of Cardboard
City. There are a few things she should maybe have told Mara about
her recent activities but in all honesty, Christine is not ready to
confide in anyone except Aurora yet. It would makes her sound crazy
- make that crazier - for one. However, sooner or later, Mara *will*
need to know.

But not right now, thinks Christine fervently. Let's burn that bridge
when we get to it . . .

China Town is so different at night. The noisy hubbub of street
trading and daytime business is gone, replaced by a certain stillness
and expectancy. Trade still prospers but it is of a more discreet
kind and mostly it has slipped inside and pulled the door shut behind
it. Gaudy signs and lanterns illuminate a restaurant or two; a couple
of bars. Light streams out between shutters and from briefly opened
doors that afford a glimpse of the secretive and exotic night time
face of China Town.

Strings of paper lanterns also illuminate the Temple, threading
delicate beads of light about it's perimeters, to clearly mark it's
boundaries and provide a welcome to visitors.

As Mara pulls up, Christine turns to her, her face puckered with
sudden concern. "I don't know whether I'm allowed to invite you in,"
she says. "Won't take me long to change but . . . shit! Seems awful
to ask you to stay out here." Christine thinks about this, frowning.
Then, "The hell with that!" she says, decisively. Christine opens the
car door and swings one leg out. She turns back to Mara. "Coming in?"
she asks.

OOC: Also . . . possible heads up for ST (s) . . . what *is* the
protocol/penalty for inviting Vampires into Mage Chantries and/or
into the Temple specifically? Christine Clueless wouldn't know and
must admit it's a first for me as a Mage player too :-P

OOC1: Going to be mostly afk until Sunday night :-)
