Titus, Sugar, Gideon
Laomsbra, mortal, mortal
>Sugar frowned and watched Titus with the gun Gideon had handed him.
>
>He looked just as lost as she felt. The vixen felt
>
>At his question her frown deepened into a worried expression that had her
>fingers already twitching to load the sleek peice of machinery. Her nerves
>were shot.
Titus tried to ignore the litle voice inside saying, Be interested, tried
listening to the other voice, the one that said, Don't look at her, don't
get involed, don't care about her.
>"Gotham's a dangerous place for the toughest of men..." Sugar said as her
>gaze shifted to the weapon he had in his hands. "...A girl can't be too
>careful. I learned that the hard way. Guess I ain't so stupid anymore."
Titus dumped a roll of twenties on the counter, enough to buy the gun back,
enoug for a holster, enough for something to keep his knife in too.
Don't look at her, don't listen to her.
>Raising a brow she leaned against the dirty counter and stared about the
>room.
Don't look at her.
>"Do you think it's a bad idea? Should I find a bottle of mace instead?"
>She said with a smile as her mind pondered over the words he spoke. "Maybe
>alittle garlic and hey, do you sell silver bullets?" Sugar added with a
>laugh as she stook up straight again and retied the belt at her waist.
He striped off his jacket, put on the hlster, shoved Gladys inside hard.
The voice inside said: walk out the door now, pull that coat on and walk out
the door. Don't get involved in some dumb dame's problems.
He pulld on his coat again. Gladys felt heavy against the side of his
chest.
The other voice inside, the one that sounded like Sister Gladys from the
orphanage said, ' I fix things.'
It took Titus a second to relaise that he'd said it out loud to Sugar.
Before he realised it he was speaking again, ' I fix a lot of things.
People, situations. Haven't yet run into something I can't get past. Tell
me, what do you need fixing?'
And he looked at her, catching her with those deader than dead eyes of his;
and deep inside, some emasure of life stirred once more.
