[Christine]
'Node'. Grasping onto something - anything - else to think about
other than Mara, Christine's seizes on this word, pretty sure she
heard Panic use it referring to the mysterious, intangible presence
she felt in the Chaste Dragon. Bellamy describes that kind of dynamic
otherwordly essence as the 'energies of the One'. That doesn't really
seem to fit the subtle, unseen power that infuses the Dragon, and the
atmospheres of the church and the bordello are very different.
Nonetheless, Christine can sense an odd similarity, a kind of
delicate background scent or flavor or sound or caress . . .
Christine is having a hard time equating what she means with any
physical sensation. It's like a combination of them all and yet
nothing like any of them! It's a something she can feel with the part
of her consciousness that needs no flesh to translate the way
environment affects her . . .

Christine's headache kicks in strongly at this point. Reminding her
that whatever high falutin new awareness she is wrestling with, her
flesh is still very much part of the picture. Currently, it's
overtired and underfed.

She glances at Laufeyjarson and wonders how much he knows about this
kind of thing. Christine hesitates but, decides that she has already
established her ignorance and lack of finesse and so has no actual
cool to lose where the strange young man is concerned.

"Node? Like at the Chaste Dragon? But here it feels different . . . "
Christine looks at Father Bellamy tentatively, looking for
confirmation. She realises that she is still holding the gloves that
are her odd present from Panic tightly and carefully puts them on the
table, so that both Laufeyjarson and Father Bellamy can see them.
"Right?" Christine hazards an interrogative look at Laufeyjarson.
"Have you been to the Dragon?"
