OOC: This is a joint post
Mara Ravenclaw, Cash
Brujah, Gangrel
Pike Street Market
Seattle, about 2 and a half years ago
Mara periodically steals a glance to the door
periodically. When was Greywolf going to show? She
looks around again, and watches as a man orders a
"large" coffee, ordering it as a large rather than a
'grande'. Obviously, a newbie to Starbucks, because
here Large was the smallest, while "Venti" was the
largest. Hmm...there was something different about
him. He seemed a bit...pale...perhaps he was like her,
Kindred? She hadn't recalled seeing him before.
Perhaps she should try to find out.
Cash considered going over to her and introducing
himself, but not being certain about her clan made him
want to think a bit more, a Brujah wouldn't mind a
Gangrel coming over, a Ventrue however, may consider
it an insult. He didn't think that the shop was
Elysium, so it could be dangerous just interrupting
her. Finally, he decided. 'F*** it,' he thought,
'I'm not going to be here for too long, so if it puts
a bug in her bonnet, so be it.'
Unfolding himself from the chair he was sitting in, he
walked over to her table. "Hi," he started, "my name
is Cash, Joshua Cash. I'm new in town and thought
that we may have something in common - a taste for a
specific beverage?"
Mara looks up from her laptop, regarding the speaker
with her brown eyes. "You can call me Raven." She
offers. "And yes, it appears that we do share an
appreciation for...coffee." She glances around the
room, a subtle indication of the mortals around the
Starbucks.
She gestures to the seat across from her, moving her
own cup of coffee closer to where she was sitting when
he sits down, since the seat was now taken. She speaks
in a low voice, leaning towards him. "So you know, I'm
not the person in charge of the city. But it's nice to
meet you anyways Mr. Cash."
"It's just Cash, Ma'am...Raven," Cash smiled, catching
her warning glance, "I've been called that for years,
so I'm quite used to it." Settling into the seat
offered, he continued, "I know that you aren't the
person in charge, but my 'traveling companion' left me
to visit other worthies, so I thought I would
introduce myself."
Mara nods and smiles, knowing that she had been and
still was subjected by much the same treatment by her
own "traveling companion".
Setting his coffee on the table in front of him, Cash
said, "I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but you
seemed to be sitting here alone."
"No, I'm just waiting on someone. But I certainly
don't mind the company." Mara shuts the laptop down
and puts it away, a sign that she intended to dedicate
her attention to the newcomer. "So," She takes a pen
and a small spiral notepad from her purse and writes
something on it. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me
yours." She slides the paper and pen toward him.
A single word is written on the paper. "Brujah."
With a slight nod Cash takes the pen and writes
"Gangrel" under her "Brujah." Placing the pen back on
the page, he turns the notebook and pushes it back to
her.
Mara studies the man's reply. Gangrel. Interesting.
She folds the paper up and tucks it into a pocket of
her suit coat to be recycled later. "Well, welcome to
the city." She offers Cash one pale hand.
Unsure of which response was appropriate, Cash
hesitated briefly, then decided to just shake hands.
"Thanks, I've visited a lot of cities, more so in the
last few years," he began, "but seldom have I been
granted such a gracious welcome."
