>Tess' smile grew, along with her curiosity. She
nodded 
>at  Columbine. "I've heard Harle speak of you on many

>an occasion. Pleased to finally make your 
>acquaintance." 

"Tess" Columbine spoke with her throaty voice. Her 
words seemed to be addressed to her companions. "The
Mother! The old trade"  Babe and Kiss nodded almost in
union. Babe's eyes flicker between John and the
couple, searching for a clue in the random coincidence
of their arriving together. 
 
"Won't you all sit down?" Babe asked. "Please join
us." The tall girl, who had been quiet up until that
point, burst into raucous  laughter. The small blonde
girl stroked her arm as the girl seemed to struggle to
control it again. As amused as she sounded, her eyes
betrayed a different emotion. 
 
"Please, sit" Columbine said, taking over the
conversation again. "It will pass."

Tess was still trying to suss out whether or not she’d
just been paid a complement.  She knew enough to
respect this vampire’s power as much as her mate’s and
was reluctant to make any remarks that might be
misinterpreted.
  
> >"It would honour me," he began to Babe, "if you

> Babe nodded, indicating The laughing woman first.
> Her introductions were
> clearly intended for all although she directed them
> mostly towards John.

> "This is Kiss." She said with a evident degree of
> sorrow in her voice.
> "Please do not take offence at her laughter, she is
> ... unwell. Her tribe

> war with the God of the Night. And this .." She
> indicates the girl with the
> dark hair and the wanton eyes. " .. is Columbine
> Zingaresche. Kiss,
> Columbine, Tess, Michael, this is John Black, an old
> friend of mine."

Tess sat down, her glance moving from the creatures at
the table, back to Michael and Mr. Black, both of whom
seemed to have a particular knowledge about who - and
what - these women were all about.
