Tom, Christine, Father Bellamy
Mages
St Bridgets
[Tom]
"You know, when you're interrogating someone, you
usually don't want to let them know you're harmless.
You can have that tip for free."
[Christine]
Christine doesn't bother to correct him. She hadn't
been suggesting that *she* was harmless, just that his
cute, 'boy-next-door' manner seemed to be designed to
make her think that *he* was. Christine would have
been wary of that even without a flash of his
predator's teeth and strange eyes.
In point of fact though, exactly what was her plan if
he turned out to be the psycho - or worse - of her
rattled suspicions? She didn't have so much as a can
of mace in her pocket. But she could scream her head
off . . .
[Bellamy]
As they speak, the sounds of slow movement come from
behind the door. A groan and shuffling feet. It sounds
as if they have woken somebody from a dose.
"Hold up, I'll be there in a moment" a voice calls out
is a hoarse whisper.
[Christine]
Christine is unspeakably relieved to hear Bellamy's
voice but also suddenly afraid for him. She still
didn't know what kind of threat, if any, Laufey . . .
whatever-his-name was, here, posed.
[Tom]
His lips twitched a little, and he then said with a
slight stammer that gave away the awkward ground he
had found himself on, "I-I'm just a guy. I w-wanted
to know who ran this place because I saw something
wierd here once. Sort of. Well, no, I'm pretty
sure."
[Christine]
The strange guy's uncertain, slightly embarrassed tone
sounds genuine. Once again Christine feels confused by
the mixed evidence. Clearly he isn't a regular kind of
person, exactly. But then, neither is Bellamy.
Neither, as it happens, is she.
As the ferret turns its attention to her, Christine
finds it unnervingly hard to know which observer to
lock eyes with. The moment's disorientation
intensifies all of a sudden into a by now familiar
sensation of spinning and falling. Like being drunk
without any of the good bits. Christine's pallor
becomes sickly and she sees . . .
[Time 2/Entropy 1 - Time Sight]
*Tom is laying unconscious in the middle of a street
in what looks to be a bad part of a very large, very
urban city. A large pile of ashes lying in front of
him is in the process of being blown away by a slight
breeze; Tom is not moving at all.
A figure sort of unfolds itself next to him; it
doesn't exactly materialize, and it doesn't exactly
appear in an instant- the best analogue is that it
sort of walks in from a direction that doesn't have a
proper name. While the figure appears to be a short,
runty looking man of vaguely vicious features,
possessing long black hair and a finely trimmed
moustache, there is also a sense that much more exists
to this person outside of even the perceptions of a
time seer.
The figure is dressed in shades of brown and green,
and wears a bright red, pointed hat. He kneels down
next to Tom and whispers a few words in his ear,
causing Tom to shift a little and roll onto his
stomach, now asleep instead of unconscious. The
sidewalk around Tom's downward-facing face picks up a
faint red luminescence; with that, the figure departs
to whereever he came from. A few moments pass and Tom
wakes and sits up with a stretch, his eyes apparently
now containing two crystal balls full of fire, and
when he yawns to accompany his stretch his mouth is
filled with some very intimidating-looking teeth.*
Christine's knees buckle and she wavers, sliding
ungracefully into the untenanted front pew. She holds
her head in her hands, elbows on her knees and spends
a difficult few seconds willing herself not to throw
up. Finally she manages a careful, nauseous glance at
Tom.
"A rat faced guy in a red hat gave you your eyes of
fire and pointed teeth?" she asks faintly. "What the
*hell* is that all about?"

PS. Did discover that Laufey is one of Loki's mythical
parents, right (?) :-)
