--The Furies--
stage
As the song dies Ace keeps the drums constant, mostly changing the
rapid pitter patter when he hits the center of the ride cymbal. Paz
joins in moments later, with a driving muted bass line, slapping her
thumb violently on the thickest string to accompany Ace's clanky
intervals. The laser like lighting once again turning to hues of red
and purple accentuating Arkana's tounge like flames as she moves
around on stage, guitar slung over her back and microphone gripped
nicely with one hand whilst the other twirls with the wire.
Arkana approaches the ropes and starts off the first few lines of
their next number, her hips swaying to the beat, while she starts to
eye different members of the audience, as if singing for soley for
them.
"An orchid drunk on strychnine
blames herself for the crime."
"sharp wrenching twist inside
running out of places to hide."
Paz stops muting her bass notes and Arkana moves back to the
microphone stand, and places the mic back in it's cradle. She grabs
the guitar and in between lines she strikes power chords, hard and
fast, allowing them to rip through the club momentarily before she
brings them to a violent halt, and then sings a few more lines.
"A broken mirror, a vacant stare
transparent fragments of youth
once fair."
Ace hits the toms hard, and the snare even faster and harder, the
signal for Arkana and Paz to pummel out the peaking of their song. Paz
whips around, arching and curving her back in circular motions her
head following suit. Arkana driven by the force of the music, knocks
down the mic stand and it lands with a loud thump, creating some harsh
feed back, only it adds to the atmosphere created and doesn't sound
out of place.
The bass and drums keep at a constant, but Arkana kills the guitar,
and bends down reaching for the mic stand, pulling it upwright with
such force for such a fragile thing, that she almost knocks it over
again, save for the fact that she slams it into position with a steady
thump of her boots over the tripod that supports it.
"Iron hammer chisels her fate, and
with tossing nights, she
chokes in her sleep.
A new day, feels like the last one
Is she really joining the
herd of sheep?"
Now the guitar wails on top of the bass and drums, and the song ends
with a racey solo, Arkana letting the last note ring as long as she
can let it ring.
