John/Carthephius smiled warmly as he recognized how
hard it was for old habits to die.  <For a friend like
you, I would wait for the stars to burn out.>  Old,
old memories came flooding back to him as well.  The
Society was small, but members were as close as blood
kin.  <What should I call you?>
