Korben continues to say nothing, but his mind begins to spin.  *I'm a
city dog,* he thinks.  *I drive a damn cab.  My fight is in the
streets.  What can I do here?  And how am I gonna pay the damn bills?*

He stoically keeps these doubts from his face.
