Mara Ravenclaw, Zoë and Christophe Basarab
Brujah
Dusk, Map room

>"Leadership of the Clan," Christophe responds "even at the city
level, is not something we choose to pursue Mara. We do of
course understand that we have a certain commitment by blood to
our consanguine, and as such we have our opinions as to who is
and who is not suitable, but to take direct action would upset
the wrong people. If one is to operate in a city as an Elder,
it usually pays not to draw attention to oneself as fae as
politics are concerned!"

Mara nods in reply. Her Mentor had told her that sometimes it was wise to
fly low and under the radar. It was a strategy that had helped keep him
alive for more than two hundred years.

>"In effect," Zoë adds "that means that we would prefer to have
a capable Cainite in the position so that we do not need to
carry the slack. Guinness was ineffectual as a leader and he
left us with quite alot of slack in fact. We sincerely hope
that we can pass that burden on and return to our own pursuits
as quickly as possible."

Mara had met Guiness only once, and he didn't seem anything like Seattle's
Brujah Prim. He certainly took more interest in the personal well-being of
his subjects, and was one of the first to truly welcome her to the city.
Guiness's welcome, well, you couldn't really call it that. She makes her
observation brief. "Yeah, you got that right."

"Besides, one can have a greater effect on society as a King
maker than as the king" Christophe nods in regard to his
present company "... or queen, themselves. And with the backing
of the Dusk lineage, a prospective Primogen would be all but
assured Mara."

Mara smiles. And really, she already knew that. They were the kingmakers
in the city and thus, she had to play nice with them.

>"Forgive us for our arrogance but that is the truth here." Zoë
turned absent mindedly to a stack of books, fiddling with
them. "Montoya would accept any recommendation we made, based
simply on our previous offers of council."

"It's not arrogance if it's true." She replies, leaning in closer.

"So, the sixty four thousand dollar Question Mara," Christophe
smirked "would a position within the Camarilla appeal to you?"

Mara smiles at Christophe. "I don't know, what exactly is the Primogen
supposed to do?" Greywolf had never covered that topic with her. In most
cities, even though she was old by Brujah standards, in the grand scheme,
she was a Neonate, and few of them held such positions of power. "And then
the better question, would the Camarilla accept me? According to the Prince
of Seattle, I've already got two strikes against me, since I'm a neonate
Sired by an Anarch."
