The Scarab, Bastette, Sugar Kane, Someone else
Gold, Silver, Red, ???

He sat in his hidey-hole, peering through a crack in the floorboards, wondering where these creatures had come from. Seemed to him like they'd been spawned from the pages of a graphic novel, some gang of costumed, would-be heroes. Sure enough, they'd rescued a damsel in distress, disposing of some demonic thing in the process.

Must be mighty proud of themselves, Jack reckoned. Nice costumes, too.

His bloody wards thrummed, most of them still raw and seeping, and let him know that the entity they battled was the real deal, dangerous and hungry - that is, until it was soundly thumped by this would-be Justice League. Nicely done and fair maiden is rescued too. He'd known what the armoured brigade had faced, he recognised the Demons when he saw them. He had a knack of telling them apart and those things had been Ahazu. High level Siezer Demons, Demons of Wrath.

But these humans in the flying tin can .... what the fuck were they? Jack's head tipped to one side and then the other, much like a curious dog.

Faithful hound, he was indeed. Akril had sent him to track demons and sniff them out, and he most assuredly did. The scent had brought him to this warehouse, but he certainly hadn't counted on finding an abducted woman, tied to a chair. All that was missing was the villain, twisting his moustache and cackling with malicious intent. He certainly hadn't anticipated the show he'd just been presented with.

Jack also hadn't anticipated that, sometime late last evening, Khan Akril's omnipresence would suddenly be snuffed out and three long years of servitude would come to an abrupt end.

Well, let' s call a spade a spade. It was slavery, wasn't it?

At any rate, the bond Jack had always felt, that tether the Khan clenched in his fist, had been severed. Freedom, at long fucking last.

But what to do with it?

Jack was a coward, plain and simple. He'd no aspirations to stick his neck out or volunteer. So this broad was tied to a chair and crying out for her liberation. He watched, wondering what would happen next. There would be no reward for saving her and it was none of his business anyway. He'd been lost when the tie to Akril was severed. What to do now? Where to go?

Despite his confusion, Jack did possess a sense of right and wrong. This woman was being held against her wishes by a demon of respectable power. He should have stepped in; should have stopped her torment.

Good thing that this shiny, gold super-hero and his catlike sidekick stepped in just in time. It meant that Jack could stay hidden and watch the show unfold.

The symbols on his arms were pulsing again, but the sensation diminished now that the demon-thing had been destroyed. Blood seeped through the makeshift bandages and he felt a bit lightheaded. He wondered if it was from loss of blood or the adrenaline stirred by watching this event unfold.

There was almost a sense of disappointment as Jack watched these creatures climb into their strange vehicle. He knew they'd accomplished their mission and would be keen on beating a retreat.

He almost called out to them. It had been a long night and he had no purpose now and nowhere to go.

>They climbed a few hundred feet before levelling off. Then the Scarab took
>them in a lazy circle over the warehouse, activating the vehicle's
>infra-red sensor. Its zero wave sensors too.

It quickly found the one thing that was not like all the others. Hiding beneath the Factory and far from involved witht he hurried packing away of pipes and diving gear, a single figure with a very unusual pattern.

(If you can't TAG with the one you love, honey, TAG the one you're with...)
